Warren Clinic History

The Warren clinic began operations in 1993 in a small yellow house. One the first day of operation the clinic had 2 children. This number quickly grew to 30 and the Warren clinic was off and running.

The Warren clinic became possible through the unwavering support of the Bradley County Medical Center Board and the administrator, Mr. Harry Stevens.

For 13 years, UAMS Kids First served special needs children from that little yellow house. Gradually the clinic began to outgrow the building and needed more space. Once again, the Bradley County Medical Center Board and Mr. Harry Stevens stepped forward to construct a new building.

In May 2006, the clinic held its open house in their new location, realizing a long-time dream. The new building had 6 treatment rooms, nurses’ station, administrative offices, kitchen and large indoor playroom. Today the Warren clinic serves 50+ children from Bradley County and the surrounding area and employs over 25 staff and contractors from the community.

UAMS Kids First Warren works in cooperation with local, area and state colleges to provide observation and training to nursing and early childhood students.

In 2015, The Arkansas Nursing Student Association awarded the “Image of Nursing Award” for the U of A/Monticello nursing student partnership with Kids First Warren.

In November 2016, Kids First in Warren was awarded a national nutrition grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics to help identify effective methods to address childhood obesity, which has lifelong health and economic consequences.
